WELCOME TO THE BIRSTALL & DISTRICT POOL LEAGUE
Next Meeting: Monday 2 July 2018 - 8pm start
Central Club, Batley
I am sure you will all be very pleased to hear that the averages are now up to date (week 17 as you are currently playing week 18 as I write this).
Special thanks to Patrick McCann for all of his hard work in getting everything back on track. For one reason or another (holiday, laptop problems and general teething issues with learning a new system) Paddy only really got going on the back log after the last meeting on 4th June and I think you will all agree with me that catching up on 8 weeks worth of averages for 4 divisions, 53 teams, in 2 weeks whilst working full time, having a young family and also having some sort of social life is quite an achievement, from all of the Birstall and District Pool League, thank you Paddy.
The next draws for the Scotch Doubles, 3 Mean Team, Veterans and Team knockouts are now available in their relevant sections and have been emailed to the distribution list.
RESULTS & MATCH SHEETS!!
Results - Please remember that all results need to be received by 11pm on the Wednesday after the match. Any result which is not received by that time will result in a loss of 2 points (the bonus points) for the winning team. For clarity, when the results are emailed out and posted on the web these results will be red. If you notice your result is missing and showing red please let us have the result ASAP.
Match Sheets - All match sheets are to be received by the league by the end of the Monday following the game. Any sheets not received by that time will result in BOTH teams losing 1 point when the following weeks results are processed. If your result is missing and we have no sheet this will lead to the winning team losing 3 points. Again, for clarity, when the results are emailed out and posted on the web these results will be yellow (unless your result is missing as well then it is red). If you see your result is yellow you still have chance to avoid a point deduction, send in your sheet ASAP. It is the responsibility of either/both teams to send in match sheets, not the winning team. Sheets are acceptable be way of Picture Message, Whats App, Facebook Messenger to the Birstall District Pool League "person" on Facebook - if you are not already a "friend" please send a request and of course by email.
2017 PRESENTATION NIGHT
A big thank you to everyone who attended the presentation night for the 2017 season, we have received quite a bit of good feedback which is always nice. Its wonderful to know so many of you enjoyed it. I think we can all agree that the one thing that let the night down, which is becoming more and more often is the lack of winning teams coming to collect their trophies. Can we please politely ask, if you or a member of your team win something during the season, please come and collect your trophies, it is not fair on the teams and players who do not win who come to support the league when they are applauding teams who can not be bothered to turn up. This especially concerns the knockouts, if you want to enter, please respect the league and your oppositions by attending, where possible, the presentation night and collecting your prize.
Photos from the night are available in the gallery section and the raffles results are here: Raffle
There have been a few separate reports in recent times to the Committee about teams arriving at away venues and not respecting the rules of the venue/landlord. Can we please remind all teams that when you go to play away, the rules of the venue are there to be adhered to i.e. if there are signs re No Swearing, please try to calm your language and respect other customers, likewise if there are any signs regarding the use of illegal substances, please do not do it on their premises (ideally don't do it anywhere regardless of if there are signs or not!!).
All matches are to be played in a sporting manner in accordance with Rule 33 of the BDPL rules and this covers all aspects of the night from the way you treat your opposing players, other customers, the bar staff, landlord and venue as a whole.
Any incidents which are reported to the Committee will be investigated and any evidence of wrongdoing will result in action being taken by the Committee including expulsion from the league.
